BOTD: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Book of the day: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Language: English

What it’s about: It’s the first book in the Harry Potter series, and it tells the story of Harry Potter, who survived an attack by a wicked and powerful wizard that killed his parents. In America, the book is published as “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”.

Thanks to my sister, who introduced him to the world of Harry Potter, Ted is now engrossed in the Harry Potter series of books. He came home from a sleepover at 外婆家 (Grandma M’s home) one night, asking me about Harry Potter.

Ted: Mama, can you tell me more about Harry Potter please?
Me: Harry was a wizard who went to a wizarding school called Hogwarts.
Ted: Yes, he was “the boy who lived” right, he survived an attack by Vol.. Vol… something.
Me: Voldemort?
Ted: Yes, can you tell me more about the story?
Me: That’s about it. His parents’ love protected him and he became a very famous wizard after surviving the attack as an infant by Voldemort.
Ted: There’s more to the story right? KT 阿姨 told me the story for 45 minutes to an hour.
Me: If you really want to know more, I have just the book for you..

And luckily I did have a copy of the book (Gryffindor anniversary edition!) sitting around, because it’s clear that I am no storyteller.

I only currently own the first two books in this series in the Gryffindor edition, and I have just ordered the next two. I would have ordered more, but the anniversary editions have not yet been released.

I don’t know if I’m a Gryffindor, but I am partial to the colour red, as you can probably tell from the bean bag Ted is lounging in.
